Antique Bamboo Fly Rods

Antique Bamboo Fly Rods

Attention! I am honored to be tasked with finding new homes for the flyfishing tackle of my friend Joe Tinko. Due to the huge number of fantastic items I have created dedicated pages. The cane rods are listed here. The wonderful reel collection that includes Wagner, Saracione, Peerless, Charlton, Godfrey, J. Austin Forbes, Pflueger, Loop, Bauer, Tibor, Ross etc are listed here. Graphite rods including Thomas and Thomas, Hardy, Sage and Scott are listed here.

From time to time we will offer vintage and used fly fishing tackle. Please check back often for new additions. We are always interested in taking consignments of used cane rods,

Vintage

We do not provide free tackle appraisals! Because the value of any fishing collectible is largely based on condition, and because researching values is so time consuming, we can not offer free, sight-unseen tackle appraisals. If you'd like us to appraise your tackle for a fee, please contact us for more information and we'd be happy to assist you. If you've arrived here via a search engine because you've found an old piece of tackle and hope to learn its value, we are very sorry but we are unable to help you without seeing the tackle and charging a fee. Thanks!

Case shows slight wear and caps could use a polish. $1, 300

Sold H.l. Leonard 8' Original Pre Fire “hunt” Bamboo Fly Rod

J.D. Wagner Signature Series Model 376 I: 7’6” 3p. 2t. 5 wt., serial number 1106-7 Medium, smooth action. Richly flamed cane, 3x3 node spacing, mirror matched tips, standard translucent wraps with fine black tipping, black wraps at ferrules, sterling silver rope braid hook keeper, 6” full Wells grip, N.S. U/L screw lock seat w/stabilized amboena spacer, black guides with red agate stripper, oxidized hardware.

In fair OAC, this rod has seen plenty of fishing, which warms my heart, nothing sadder than a ‘mint, unused’ cane rod. Varnish in great condition but could use a cleaning and polish, N.S. seat could use a polish, mid and both tips have sets, one tip male ferrule fits quite loosely and some bluing loss to ferrules and agate stripper frame. This model has a nice, easy medium action that bends into the butt reminiscent of a Paul Young Martha Marie, equally at home with dry flies to nymphs and small streamers. Tube shows some wear and caps could use a polish, old paper label shows wear, can be replaced gratis. $1, 295

J.D. Wagner Signature Series Custom Model 380-ZW: 8’ 3p. 2t. 4 wt., serial number 207-4 Crisp/fast DF action. J D Wagner. 8' # 4 Line — R.w. Summers Bamboo Fly Rods Company
