Eco Bamboo Flooring

Eco Bamboo Flooring

When you want hardwood floors in your home but are tired of traditional woods like oak or walnut, exotic species are always an excellent option. When it comes to sustainable building materials, it’s hard to beat bamboo, and Eco Forest is one of the more popular brands around.

If you’ve been on the fence about Eco Forest Bamboo flooring reviews, you’ve come to the right place. We’re going to cover all of the collections from the company and let you know what to expect when it comes to key areas like, quality, pricing, and availability.

Eco

If you’ve been searching for who makes Eco Forest bamboo, you are not alone. The company behind the product is a bit of a mystery, although we know it’s made in China and sold through only once place – Floor & Décor. That technically classifies Eco Forest Bamboo flooring as a store brand in our eyes.

While that normally isn’t a bad thing, there isn’t much information available about this brand or its products. That means you won’t find an official website or in-depth details on the manufacturing process, something typically found on websites from the top brands. That said, all the key technical specs are available.

Bamboo is far from what we would consider a “traditional” wood, but you would never know it by the flooring in the Eco Forest Origins collection. This series features boards with a classic look that includes natural finishes and tones.

If you like the style of the Origins collection but prefer something a bit more modern yet rustic, the Eco Forest Natural collection may be better suited to your tastes. Warm colors and natural tones are highlights of this series, and it’s one of their more eco-friendly options as well.

Bamboo: Eco Friend Or Eco Foe

The Eco Forest Vintage collection has a similar vibe, but the bamboo is weathered to mimic the look of reclaimed flooring. It’s an interesting alternative depending on your tastes, and there are some unique color and texture combinations available.

Homeowners that have modern décor and want something that is easy to maintain over the course of its lifespan will appreciate the Eco Forest Elements collection. This series features floor boards with clean lines and neutral colors with a style and hue for everyone.

While it’s nice to let your consumers know what to expect from your lineup and each collection, the real details come into play when you start looking at the specifications. Unfortunately, Eco Forest flooring is not listed by the collection, so you’ll need to sort their flooring by type. At this time, that includes Solid Strand, Engineered, Stranded Engineered, and Solid Bamboo flooring. If you want to learn more about the types of bamboo flooring and how they are made, be sure to check out our guide.

Carbonized Vertical Bamboo

The majority of Eco Forest’s bamboo flooring is the Solid Strand variety with around 60 styles in all under this category. From hand scraped planks in Mohave that are a half-inch thick to wire brushed bamboo flooring in Nightshade – there is truly a style for everyone. That includes some unusual colors like White Oak Distressed and consumers that want something simple, and affordable like their Cherry locking flooring.

The company’s Engineered Stranded Bamboo flooring lineup also features a number of boards that have been hand scraped or distressed in some fashion. While there are only half the colors available, the options are far more intriguing. You’re unlikely to find anything like Eco Forest Dolpino Antique anywhere else, and there are a number of smooth boards with clean lines as well.

While there are Solid Bamboo flooring options and some Engineered Bamboo boards available, there are only a dozen styles between the two types of flooring as the company’s focus is on stranded bamboo.

Carbonized Vertical Engineered Tongue/groove Floating Plank Bamboo

Bamboo is known for its durability, and we’re pleased to say hardness is not an issue with Eco Forest bamboo flooring. On every product we checked, the hardness rating was listed as a five on Floor & Décor’s scale. The actual Janka or hardness rating is listed at 2, 900 for solid strand bamboo flooring, but we didn’t see a rating on-site for their other styles.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t as durable as other brands of bamboo flooring, but it is something to keep in mind if you want to compare the hardness of a certain style of Eco Forest against another brand. The thickness on all their products range from 7/16” to a half-inch and planks vary in width from 3” to “wide” planks that are 6” or wider.

Bamboo

This is where things get trickier, and the unorganized nature of Eco Forest comes into the spotlight. While they do have eco-friendly flooring, you don’t know exactly how green it is until you select a listing and look at the tech specs.

With that in mind, from what we can tell, they have two types of certified flooring. There are products that are FloorScore certified, which is something we’ve touched on with vinyl, linoleum and engineered hardwood. The other certification is GG UL 2818, which means it’s a GREENGUARD certified product. We also noticed a few styles with no certifications listed.

Bamboo is a sustainable material, but it can still emit VOCs into your home if it’s a poorly made product that hasn’t been certified. It’s also important to keep in mind that any company can say their products are certified, so always double-check if you’re unsure of a manufacturer or product.

Bamboo can be easier to install than hardwood or more difficult, depending on how it’s made and the milling. With Eco Forest, their flooring is listed as being nail, staple and glue friendly or you can opt for a locking floating floor. There are also three ratings for where Eco Forest bamboo flooring can be installed, which is a nice touch, but still something you’ll need to dig for. Elevation grades for their flooring are listed as on, above or below grade which means you can use their flooring in any room of your home as long as it has the proper rating and preparation.

Durability and warranties generally go hand in hand as thicker boards will last longer if well-made and the type of bamboo flooring makes a difference as well. That said, the warranties on Eco Forest bamboo flooring vary from 25 to 40 years. The length of that guarantee isn’t tied to any particular collection or style as we saw solid strand planks with warranties on both ends of the spectrum.

As mentioned, the only place you can purchase Eco Forest bamboo flooring at the time of this writing is Floor & Décor. They ship and have locations scattered throughout the United States, so we don’t consider availability to be a major hurdle for most consumers.

There’s a lot to like about the Eco Forest bamboo flooring line, but they are confusingly classified compared to other brands. That makes it hard to tell the difference between the budget and premium considering you can find cheap bamboo flooring that’s thicker and has the same warranty as more expensive boards with the same specifications.
